Anyone moved the rear diff back to get a longer wheel base?

What are you trying to achieve mate  other than having a longer WB.

Just buy a late model RRC LWB.

I believe the Disco chassis is 100 inch wheelbase. If you need longer, it would make more sense to buy a specifically designed longer chassis, such as that from a 110 or 130. Easier as a start point I would have thought?

I have seen a stretched D1, it has a camper body on the back and it looks to be around 130 inches in the wheelbase. I have seen it at historic bike race meetings, but can't remember where it is registered. Maybe someone on here knows it.

If anyone can help, Graham of the tumbling tucker truck fame and myself, are pretty keen to see how it was done.

Moving the diff back and leaving the existing body shell on is going to look a bit strange or are you intending to stretch the body shell so that the rear wheel arches also move back?
I have pix I took of a D1 chassis that had been lengthened for a tray back conversion.

I thought some did this in the US to fit bigger tyres.

extend the body just behind the front doors--
just think of the extra leg room in the back:eek::cool:

I'm afraid Foogle hasn't given enough info for us to give a useful reply. It would help if we knew what he was wanting to do.

Yes, it makes a useful wheelbase for a ute of about 127" (nominally 130") - if we're talking about the same vehicle it was fabricated out of 2 D1 chassis, but I imagine that a suitable fabricated chassis section filler (as on the Oz built 120") would be a good alternative.
Why not put that pic up in this thread, Ron ?

Yep, that's the one. I was going to post a link to the thread where I've already posted some pics. The chassis pic is on another computer so I'll do it later.

na keeping the body shell same length and just moving it maybe less then 5 inches and moving the inside wheel arches and putting bigger flares on it to hide the gap and make it look right. i have seen one like this but it looked **** because it looked like 80 series flares on it. cant find info of it though, it was red!!

see what i want to do one day is cut the back off into a pickup. by having the diff a little back it saves me from a bobtail which i dont want. keeps a little more room, more protection, looks better and off course drives a little better.
if this all makes sence
