Neil,
How often do you change your box oil? I was told by Bruce Davis ( similar to your guy there in Qld, trustworthy) that it should at 50k intervals. Cheers. Rob

Hi Rob,
50k sounds spot on, ive done 100k in mine since i bought it and have done it twice, both times oil was reasonably clean although peter at russels reckons do it every 30k now its over 200k
they only charge about $180 for an oil change and about $400 for a full flush.
I personally dont believe that flushing a worn box thats never had the oil changed does any harm, like some believe. how can changing the oil in anything be a bad thing? if, as some believe it dislodges debris in the cooler then the filter will pick it up,
If i had a box that had never been done but had done big klm then i would get it flushed and then do an oil change in the next 20k, what the oil is like and having a look in the sump will tell you how its going.
cheers

Mine has been done by Western Suburbs Automatics, they see a few X5s as well.
Have a chat to British Off Road, ask what fluid they recommend, you’ll soon find out how much they know about the boxes. I spoke to MR when I first got the car and they admitted mine would be the first L322 trans service they have done and they have plenty of fluid for the D3 box on hand – I went somewhere else.
