The front seats in my Defender are looking a bit shabby and worse for wear (the drivers seat even has a hole worn through to the padding) so I think I should get them re-upholstered.

So, I'm looking for any suggestions or recommendations for anyone who can do this in the Sydney area. Or, if you think it's not worth the hassle and the cost of doing this, can anyone suggest where I can get decent fitted seat covers that work well with Defender seats?

Ta!

G'day Sam
I had my disco front and rears changed from cloth trim to leather when i put in some electric seats. I think its a spanking good job and love it. Hes in the Box Hill area. OK cost too. Just no concept of time, nil, none, bubkis but hes willing to concede that too. Really nice guy. Brad's Auto Upholstery. Don't say I didn't warn you about the time factor though.

cheers

I recently changed my profession after 30 plus years of doing upholstery,,And I must agree that I also struggle with the time factor..When I was asked how long I had been doing upholstery told the fella 10 maybe 15 years...afterwards realised it was three decades...lost 10 years there somewhere..;)

G'day Sam_d :)

I think you can still get original seat covers for Defender/110's genuine, if not in Australia you could source them from UK,"Paddock's,or John Craddock comes to mind

You can buy kits to recover or rebuild (new and better shaped foams) your defender seats. Only takes an hour or so to do each seat and they look like new again.

Got mine from British 4WD in Tassie.

i bought a kit to do mine in lurch.......it comes with new foam and trim....the glue and everything else that is required......including an instructional dvd showing how to do the job step by step.........

you basically just keep the metal frame of the seat......and replace everything else.......

was around $160 for the kit which does one seat...........and it was bought from botany......nice and close....

My Defender had a shocking drivers seat, with the foam down to the frame. I guess 312,000 kms does cause some wear! Any way a couple of before & after photo's attached. Mine came from the UK manufactured by Exmoor trim & they have excellent instructional videos on their website.
Happy new year to everyone.

I've already ordered myself a couple of these seat covers for a short term fix.

That sounds like just what I am after. What was the name of the place you got the kit from?
