I had a message come up this morning with, 'trans. Failsafe prog'
Does anybody know what this means? No issues with driving, gear changes and the box has been fully rebuilt 11k ago with a brand new transfer case,

Goes into limp mode to protect gearbox.
Usally a sign of low oil pressure or overheating; were you towing ?
Could also be a sign of moisture in the connections, especially after the storm last night. Low battery voltage can also cause the message !
Do you have all gears ? if you do; check gearbox electrical plugs etc for moisture. Keep and eye on it if it comes up again try the gearbox re-set listed a few pages back , but if you still loose gears take it straight back to the rebuilder for checking.

I get that message sometimes if I am in a hurry and let the key turn off whilst the motor is cranking but before it fires. I only have half a thumb on left hand and occasionally it slips off the key. I just switch it completely off and restart normally with no further message. Jim:):):)

That could be it, I also had all the doors open and the radio on for about 3 hrs while I was packing...maybe a voltage drop, as I simply turned the vehicle off then restarted, problem solved.

Tim,
I think you had better start a conversion sheet, with three columns, 1 with error message, and 2nd with what it may mean, and 3rd with what you did to stop it!
Could be useful for anyone who is thinking of buying a similar vehicle!!!!
