View Full Version : Tyre Pressures for Duellers on D3

Good day Guys.
I have just had a set of Bridgestone Dueller 697's (265/60R18) fitted to my Disco 3. The guys at Bridgestone put 40 psi into the tyres. I have driven on them for a couple of weeks on sealed roads and have found them to be a bit on the "hard" side. I have now dropped the front ones to 34 psi and found this to be better. I have left the rear at 40 psi as I will be towing my 3.4 tonne caravan in a week or so. I realise these tyres are "Light Truck" and are not quite so forgiving as the original Wranglers but would be interested to hear what pressures other Dueller users are running at.
Thanks for your help and have a good Xmas.

Hi there, i run d694 lt on 17 inch rims in a d4. I have found the fronts good at 37 psi although i have an arb bar so could probably lose a couple of psi if not. I run the rear a lot higher i am regularly over 50 psi fully loaded with camper on the back at 51 psi i get a 6 psi increase when hot. Best rule of thumb ks to aim for a 4 - 6 psi increase from cold to full hot. I had a rear at 34 psi unloaded and read 51 psi warm so i would say that is to low. If changing pressures hot ignore the readings and just change realtively to hot readi.g and recheck when cold e.g when i was 51 psi i would add 6 psi to gdt 57 and hopefully that is close to 40psi cold. Also never exceed max ratinv on sidewall mine is 65psi not sure what the 18 inchers are.
merry xmas.

I'm also using D694LTs - 265/65x17 on LR OEM rims - on my D3 TDV6 HSE. In general running around and after a bit of experimenting I use 38F/42R (measured dead cold) round town and lightly loaded but go up to 41F/48R when fully loaded and/or towing an offroad camping trailer. I too have an ARB steel roo bar (and a winch). I'd suggest 40 rear would be light-on for towing a heavy van - I'd go for 50. Remember that LT tyres have thicker walls and need more air in them than a thinner walled tyre or they'll heat up too much. I have an Inawise tyre pressure monitoring system, and these pressures give me pretty consistent ratings all round, i.e. each tyre goes up by about 6 psi after they've been running for a bit at highway speeds. The D694s are a lot harder than the road-pattern Kuhmos on my 18 inch rims, but then they're LTs so you'd expect that. We find them entirely acceptable and reasonably quiet too, but we're generally motoring 5-up with the whole troop on board, sometimes 7 if they've brought friends!
