Engine didnt stop

Alright, new one to me. Turned ignition off and took key out. Engine keeps running. Not runaway, just at idle. Almost didnt notice. Engine is not making or using oil.

Key goes back in, to On, back to off, and engine stops a second later.

CC has also stopped working. I think the wife may have been grabbing the loom under the glove box when I asked her to pop the bonnet this morning.

Any thoughts?

Got the CC sorted. Wiggles the loom my wife grabbed to pop the bonnet, and she's all good again :)

Unassociated memory revived.
I used to have this problem on a 1993 D1 3.4l petrol I had in Saudi Arabia.
Occasionally would turn off the key, and engine would keep running.. I found if I then turned OFF the Air Conditioning, the engine would stop. Kept the car until late 2001 - never sorted the problem; dealer could not fix it. :-)

sounds like a dicky ignition switch?
