What maps do people use for Cape York that are fairly up to date?
I have the Hema paper maps that are fairly new, but they don't seem to sell the electronic version any more??
cheers

You can still get the electronic versions, it's just that they have changed the way the maps are sold. In the past you could buy sdcards loaded with specific maps for OziExplorer, but this is no longer possible.

The options for current electronic Hema maps are:

- Hema DVD containing all Hema maps in OziExplorer format - currently 2012 ed.
- Hema app for iOS with regular updates to mapping - last update was just prior to xmas: ( https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/4wd-maps-hema-australia-offline/id465639977'mt=8 )
- MemoryMap app for iOS, Android & WinCE with annually updated Hema mapping - currently 2012 - which can be purchased by region (Eastern Australia, Northern Australia, Western Australia, and Great Desert Tracks) ( http://memory-map.com.au )
- PDF Maps for iOS - individual Hema maps. ( Thousands of GPS-Enabled Maps Available for iPhone and iPad | Avenza PDF Maps (http://www.pdf-maps.com) )

in my opinion for cape areas, the hema gets you where you want to be.
Grab a garmin gps, shonkeymaps will give you excellent ground details.
Use google satellite imaging to find smaller nooks and crannies like lagoons and creeks.

Hi mate, we were up there recently and used HEMA maps combined with Memory-Map. We had our maps installed on a Ipad and a net book and couldn't fault them on either platform.
Cheers, Rick.
