Where do I mount the spare wheel?

I have a 2011 Defender 130 Crew Cab. I have a installed a Travelander Camper on the tray. This takes up 100% of the tray. The Travelander is a great bit of gear and the Defender carries it beautifully.

However, where can I mount the spare wheel?

I have thought about manufacturing a mounting system to go on to the bull bar. How would that affect air flow for cooling?

Can it be mounted on the bonnet as with older Defenders?

Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated.

Murray (Rijidij) did up a bonnet mount for a customer not long ago - you can see the thread, and pictures here:

I've had my second spare mounted on the bonnet of a 300tdi (doesn't have the bonnet hump) and with the standard Defender rims and tyres it was fine, however when I started running 265/75/R16's, the bigger spare on the bonnet threw a certain amount of guesswork into cresting hills (sky...sky... more sky....oh *there's* the track), and it made me nervous when kids were around, lest I accidentally run over one that I wouldn't see. In the end I went with a dual carrier at the rear.

Bullbar mount, I'd be wary of restricted airflow to the radiator, could be wrong though.

I am pretty sure Murray does a rear mount for a 130 as well. Look at his website Rijidij. Not sure if this would interfere with the camper.

Many thanks for the suggestions and the links. Both options look good to me. The bonnet mount will be good for the second spare wheel when we go bush. I think the rear mount should be able to be manufactured to suit the camper. It would have to be mounted on the right side and then swing out to the right when it is unlocked. The rear door of the camper opens up to give access to the 'kitchen'.
I will follow up with the contacts in due course. We are suffering through an extreme drought at present so can't go anywhere but that will give me the opportunity to get all the preparation work done.

Should be possible to mount the spare under the tray at the back - its easy when building the tray to make space for it - but if tray is already made then may need modification.

I have a 130 flat tray and have both(2)of my spares 255/85-16 under my tray just behind the cab but in front of the rear wheels which works great they sit on a 25mm s.h.s frame with a strap over them but it meant the normal foward tray mounts couldnt be used I cut it of and made another one from 50 s.h.s right forward as far as posibile

heres a pic there is a tyre on both sides.there very easy to access to unlike tyres on bonnets which also tend to dent the bonnet . the rear set up add length to a already long veichle

I have a 130 tdi twin cab with a camper on the tray, I built a custom roof rack with a small winch to unload the spare tyre, if you are interested I can take some pics for you.
