Hi folks,
I have a squeal in the diff actuator, or somewhere there, that occurs when I turn the key from the off position to the on position prior to starting the engine (2009 D3 TDV6 SE with e-diff). The same squeal occurs when I turn the vehicle off. The dealer has told me that LR recommend replacing the diff for this problem. It is definitely not the park break squeal/screech. The dealer was looking into an alternative solution for this issue, but has not got back to me. I have not had any success finding info about the problem on the Internet.
The squeal sounds like the motor drive is rubbing on something as it rotates. It only does it when you turn the car on or off. It does not continue once the cycle has completed. It does this every time I start and stop. I wonder whether the gear that drives the locking mechanism is rubbing or misaligned.
Has anyone else come across this squeal and what did they do or get done in order to fix it?
Thanks.
