Apple TV not connecting to apple computer

Grrrrr, em getting frustrated, to date apple hasn't let me down since switching but for some reason I can no longer connect to my computer via Apple TV.

I have done software updates on both devices......iTunes password had not changed

So why am I not connecting??

Are you running Mountain Lion or an earlier OS X?

There was a connection issue in iTunes a version or two back that was very annoying. You had to turn off home sharing on iTunes then re-enable it. Update fixed it. I haven't looked if this was also for OS X pre-ML though.

Actually come to think of it it's probably been since the iTunes layout has changed, for me it was a couple of weeks ago

That was the update that broke everything. Apple has since issued a patch.
