I have a 2006 Disco3.
For quite some time now I have been getting intermittent problems with starting the car which I suspect may be connected with the immobiliser.
Usually the car will start in the mornings but if I drive a short distance and leave it for 15 minutes or longer it often refuses to start. It will turn over but not start. If I try cranking it for to long an error msg comes on telling me special programmes have been switched off.
Sometimes I have to lock it and go for a cup of tea for half an hour and when I come back sometimes it will start sometimes not. Or I have to connect my jump start pack for a few minutes and then it normally starts.
A Landrover tech once told me that he has heard of these cars going to sleep and forgetting to wake up when requested to do so by the key fob or key? Any one else heard of this or come across this problem. It is so frustrating as I have to say a small prayer everytime I get in my car in the hope that it will start!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
