Hello all :) Hope that this is the right place to post a hello thread. I just purchased my first Discovery yesterday! I believe previous owner is a member here too as he referred me, hello if you see this! I am not sure of your user name but thankyou again :D
My name is Leonie, I come from a landrover loving family, though currently only myself and my sister own landrovers. Dad is trying to claim my new pride and joy however. So may end up with a third one in the family as hes not taking mine LOL! Very happy with how the Disco performed on the long drive home from Vic, 9.54L per 100 with A/C running whole way! Did not miss a beat!
Looking forward to making new friends, nice to meet you all :D
Future plans with the disco are other than keeping it in tip top shape, is towing horses and boat, and some 4wding trips. Planning one with my dad for middle of the year. Does anybody recommend a good roof top tent for a disco? One that is fairly easy to erect as Ive got some disabilities so easier the better :)
WOW cannot stop going outside and staring at my car LOL, cannot believe Ive finally got a Discovery :D Had every other 4wd but the one ive always wanted until now :D

And another quick question, is it worth upgrading/adding an extra trans cooler If I will be towing fairly frequently? I don't want to cook anything.

Welcome to the forum ED, what model Disco have you got? With fuel consumption like that it has to be a diesel.

Thanks :) yeah 2000 TD5. Automatic. I was surprised it did so well as wasn't expecting it to be that good. For a big heavy vehicle, only slightly worse on fuel than my VW golf gti! I know it will use more general driving that a long trip. But still. My last 4wd was a 3.0L turbo diesel and I would be lucky to get 300 kms out of it. it Did only have a 50 L tank but still.

welcome to the forum and the 'joy' of Landrovers. If it were me I would be up sizing the trans cooler if towing horse float. Have fun!

Welcome to the forum Epic_Dragon :)

Yes, I would suggest that you up grade/size both your transmission oil cooler and your engine intercooler, that will give a little bit more horse power for towing,(more cool air in better efficiency) ;)

Have fun with your new vehicle, and look around the AULRO site, look in the "Pinnicles" and you will find a section for D2's ask questions, there are some VERY knowledgeable people here :D

thanks :) yeah i will definately be upgrading both of those in the near future. a good intercooler is always a must as well!

ill have a look there. still figuring out my way around the site. where do you upload an avatar image? or is a post count needed before?

Welcome to the forum.
You weren't one of the many Discoveries that passed on Friday whilst I was driving home?
"disco 3 door" has a rather nice roof top tent on his Discovery. You might want to PM him and ask him about it. Shonky has one as well on his Defender. Same type I think.

thanks :) were you driving from SA to Vic? I was coming back on Sunday so wouldn't have passed me. I did get to cruise with another disco for a little while though until the tummy made us stop for some food haha. Thats a cool rooftop tent!

LOL yeah it was definately a lot cooler in Melbourne than it was in Adelaide!

and here is a couple piccies of my new baby. One at a pit stop to refuel ourselves and not the car in Nhill, then other one just after arrived home safe and sound and parked it next to my other car :D I did not plan on having all white cars. I have 3 of them! Is good though as they are considerable cooler to get into in this heat, good for me as I get quite unwell in the hot weather.

cool someone local :) best way to do piccies is use Photo and image hosting, free photo galleries, photo editing | Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). you can upload them in there. then you use the IMG link which you copy and paste that link into your post :) how you finding yours? How does the LPG intake injection work with the td5 being diesel? I have heard of it before but always wondered how it goes together. Im in love with mine well and truly and its only been a couple days hahaha.

thanks mike, I cant imagine leaving SA. other than the heat. its horrible. But love it here. this is where my family moved to from the UK in 1992 LOL

Yep, at Daish.
I was usually stuck on the "other side" of the shop though. :(

It was better in the fodder.
