We have a Sony LCD tv. It cost about $700

It has an Ethernet connection so can access ABC iview, SBS on demand plus commercial tv, for free. I never watch digital tv anymore.

MacBook Pro use Serviio media server (http://www.serviio.org) app for DLNA to Sony LCD TV or Denon Blu-Ray player (the Denon is very good at handling different codecs)
iTunes to Apple TV
Direct from internet to iTunes, AppleTV or Sony TV

I use to use connect 360 to share video and iTunes from iMac to xbox 360 but it wouldn't share my photos as l use Aperture not iPhoto, so l started using Playback which does movies, videos, iTunes, iPhoto and Aperture picture folders as well and l find it handles the interface with the xbox 360 to the iMac better than connect 360 did.

So no one here is using VPN to access USA internet tv broadcasting services or for downloading USA TV and movie contents then ?

I have US Netflix but it only needs a DNS redirect service to work, not a full VPN. I love Netflix, but don't expect NEW RELEASE content. More of a back catalog of content.

I pay about $5/month for DNS redirect + $7/month for netflix. Bargain.

What l resolved was the following

downloaded pc software (there doesn't seem to be an iMac version) to my partners pc toshiba laptop a piece of software called play on for once off charge of $39 it allows you to stream internet tv to your xbox360 it has inbuilt 60 tv channels with internet presence and you browse the various channels and types of shows available via separate folders in your xbox 360 video apps folder.

Can now watch via xbox 360 all shows l previously watched on Foxtel like History A&E, Discovery, Food, Military.

Can now watch Hulu for movies and will be able to watch Netflix and Hulu Premium once l set up USA accounts to purchase monthly services for these services

joined unblock.com for a USA DNS presence for $5 a month which is used by my iMac, laptop and xbox 360 to access USA internet tv channels as if you had a presence in the USA.

to watch digital free to air from April 2013 onwards when they turn off the analogue service buy a sub $100 digital set top box that has built in DVD player and USB port for hard drive recording.

So l can now cancel my Foxtel $115 month service and watch internet streaming tv via xbox 360 for $5 month

I added a free public USA proxy to my browser, then went to Netflix and signed up. When I did that, it obviously though I was in the USA and I didn't have to enter a street address. Just name and credit card details. Then I used unblock.us to watch.
