Where to Kayak Brisbane Northside

Hi,
Went to launch the Kayak at North Pine Dam today and read the sign detailing permitted activities. Kayaking is not one of them!:mad:

Anyone know of a river, stream, lake or water course relatively close to North or North West Brissy? Lake Kurwongbah also bans it.:mad:

there is a boat ramp and sandy shore when the tide is out, a local club launches from there all the time

you have to be a member of the yacht and canoe club to go on samsonvale and then you are not allowed past the power lines.
2 weeks ago i dropped the canoe in at petrie by the bridges and we paddled down too murrumba downs, very nice and picturesce but check the tides are in your favour. Did cabbage tree creek but you really have to fight the tide race there- once again check befor you go

you have to be a member of the yacht and canoe club to go on samsonvale and then you are not allowed past the power lines. We were members for one year a couple of years ago but I couldn't justify renewal for only a kayak! Especially as I only soak it a few times a year.

I to was a member and stored my hobie cat at the club which was great, then the committee changed and went pro racing and there was a huge increase in membership cost so i bowed out...

Over the range you have Somerset and Wivenhoe Dams as well as the upper Brisbane river.

Brisbane River, Breakfast Creek, parts of Kedron Brook, Hayes Inlet and the Pine Rivers, Oxley Creek, Norman Creek, much of Moreton Bay, Logan and Albert Rivers, Tingalpa Creek and so on. Just have a look at a Brisbane and suburbs map.

You were about 400 m from the middle section of the North pine River. Below the dam wall, above Youngs crossing. Very nice, usually quiet, fish usually biting.

Caboolture River is good too. Above the weir through Morayfield and up to the back of Belmere. You can get at least 7 k's up. I used to paddle there twice a week for years, training and there were always plenty of platypus in the early mornings.
