D4 LR genuine driving lights

For general interest- I had someone ask me who makes the above - I've discovered they are:

PIAA 80 Pro XT Super Racing Light Halogen PR8101

Here are numbers off the light:

I'm looking into whether the globes can be replaced with something, well, decent....!

The numbers appear to be: WIDTH 169: depth 80

These take an H3 don't they? What about an HID conversion?

I'd like to get a set of genuine lights to get the genuine wiring loom, but keep hearing how bad they are. I was lucky with the D3 and got a loom without the lights (thanks Pete!) but replacing the lights with something decent makes it an expensive proposition.
