Koltec Parts?

Hi

Have a Holden 186 in my S3 with a Koltec VG-177 converter, both very old. Am trying to find someone who stocks the overhaul kit, diaphragms etc? No joy so far in NZ, can anyone advise of anywhere in Oz. best I can find using Google is either in Holland or Belgium.

Having dealt with them when new, I wouldn't bother. Just purchase a suitable second hand converter off ebay and bung it on.

Really, can I ask why? It has worked for the 3 years I have had it fairly trouble free, just looking to service it while do engine rebuild and upgrade

Nothing wrong with a Koltec while it's in good order. The most common fault I met with Koltec converters was water leaking internally and rusting the screws holding the water gaskets in or destroying the entire converter after sitting with water inside for months. If you strip it you may snap off half the screws and then have an expensive kit you can't use. About 50% of other brands of converters I attempt to fix end up in the recycle because of this kind of problem.

While it's going I suggest you leave it alone, fitting a good second hand commonly available unit is likely to be a better option cost wise long term.
