Hiya everyone been MIA for a year or so... wishing I never sold my D3 so planning on getting another. Was the best car I ever owned... :)

Budget is roughly $60 so looking at 2nd hand.

I see some nice HSE D3s 2nd hand... is the D4 much different apart from being newer?

I'd really like to have the new engine but correct me if I'm wrong you are stuck with at least 19" rims then? I do plan to use it offroad a bit and do some big trips in it - eg the Kimberlies/Cape York etc. Does 19" give you enough rubber for offroad touring? Not too worried about extreme 4wding although you might get bits of this whilst touring...

Hi

Having just been through a similar exercise, ultimatley it will be how much your need the fruit on an D3 HSE over say a 2.7 D4. We ended up with a D4 2.7 as we preferred having a bit of new car warranty left and preferred the styling given we are planning to hold onto it for a few years.

I think you will struggle to get one of the 3 litres on a budget of 60k. Cheapest i could find (in Perth area) was a 2010 and that was about 67k. others were mid 70's. We picked up a 2011 2.7 for mid 60's.

Our 2.7 has 18 inch rims - think its only the 3l that has 19?

Hope this helps

Cheers
Darren

Sorry I meant to say that yeah I'd expect to have to go to at around $65k at least perhaps for the 3L. There's a few around for around $66k-$68k it seems. And yes I think you have to go 19" with the 3L because of the brakes or something but would be good to confirm this.

The 3 ltr comes with either 19" or 20" rims. The LR 18" rims won't fit over the callipers. If you want 18" rims, I can supply rims that will fit.

Hi
Confirmed 3lt has 19", you can get after market 18"(GOE)
but to be honest the 19" are OK off road, tyres are pricey though
