Done a search but cant find info , can anyone tell me what 12v battery fits a 2007 RRS TD6 other than the one at the Perth Dealer quoted at $566 , is this a normal price ??? (they must be gold plated) , done a google also but just get older landrover models on battery websites .
THanks , Al

Here is one...

Seems strange that the D3 only shows this one as largest:

Battery Search - find batteries by vehicle type - VARTA Automotive (http://www.varta-automotive.com/index.php?id=256&L=&h=1&presetApplication=&presetManufacturer=&presetModelline=&application=PKW&manufacturer=&modelline=&lang=en&range=)

and search for your one... I assumed it was a 2.7 TDV6.

Check with another dealer!
I bought a standard LR battery last year for $285, my mechanic ordered it in from Trivett Classic here in Sydney.
I use the Yellow top from my auxiliary.

Have found out that In battery talk which i know nix about the battery i require is - DIN 88 HIGH , Which is a generic size for a battery i asume  ? , Ie , H3 Varta Silver @ 830 CCA for $275 or AC delco @ 780 CCA for $253 . Which is a lot better than $566, Any way thanks for the reply,s .

Varta do not seem to have a 950cca in Aus that i can find , Which i asume the dealer battery @ $566 is , so i supose the question now is is 950cca required ?. Al

I recently put a battery into my Dads 2006 Sport. I will try to remember to check the invoice tomorrow for a part number.

Hi Al,
Be careful here, I bought one for my RRS from a reputable battery shop I think it was 700 odd amps, when I took my Sport into the dealership they connected up to the battery for supply mode whilst checking the ecu they noted the battery was under size at 700 amps, should be 900 amps to be the right one for the vehicle as supplied as original.
I've still got the 700 odd amp battery in the vehicle because it works and seems to work fine, however when it dies and I suspect it will die a bit earlier I'm going back to the 900 amp one which I suspect is where the additional cost comes from, the RAC battery list specifies a 700 and something odd amps on their list, apparently this is wrong.
If you call Southerns and talk to the service guy I'm sure he will enlighten you.

Thanks for that , the one i have in mine is a Landy badged Varta 950cca , i can get a replacement from " you know where" but i just cant get my head around it being $566  . I can get a varta 830cca for $275 but as you say maybe it has to be 950cca ?? i was hoping this battery size might be the colder parts of the world . Will keep reseaching . Al

I think this one might be what you are looking for (but check before ordering) $311 plus delivery from Batteries Direct.

VARTA 610402 (L1) SILVER DYNAMIC (http://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/shop/product/23074/varta-silver-dynamic.html)

I fitted a Supercharge brand MF88H. From memory the capacity printed on it was about 850 or 900 CCA, but in testing it was capable of providing well over 1000 CCA.

Thanks guys , will check today re the above batteries from A suplier in Perth, getting closer to the answer ! . Not sure of this but the reason the dealer battery is $566 as it might be an AGM battery , as it would appear that L/Rover now only fit AGM batteries according to the UK website,s ??? will check back with them today . I've just bought a Century HD DIN85L for my RRS TDV6 - was $200 from Supercheap Auto. I think 780CCA. Works well - no difference in starting effort from the original.

I use this in the RRS:

VARTA 605901 (H15) START-STOP PLUS (http://batteriesdirect.com.au/shop/product/22642/varta-start-stop-plus.html)

900 CCA, 105AH

Can I assume any discussion about starting batteries re the RRS TD6 will have identical application to the D4 (3.0 l) or is there some subtle difference between the 2.

I need a new one too.

Identical for this conversation, as long as both have the same engine (eg 3.0 RRS and 3.0 D4).

Cheers,

:) Finaly , Landrover have now converted to AGM batteries and are supplied to the dealers by LR Aus , this explains the hike in price at $566 for the AGM @ 850cca to fit my RRS td6 Part No LR032260 , however dealers may still have some of the old type Landrover Badged Varta Batteries Part No LR030213 At 950cca in stock at $384 retail or $353 Trade or in my case $328 for a pensioner After a bit of hagling  .

Was never this hard with my old Falcon , just slip into K-Mart and buy a battery with the house shopping :D , Dont ya just luv Landrovers . Al

Hi Rich,
This is the one I got, as you say seems fine so far, the proof off the pudding I suspect will be later in life. I'm in the Supercheap club and managed to get mine sub $200 on sale, plus I think the chick on the counter wanted to get home, it was late in the day. I'm a bit paranoid now though knowing it isn't the right one..........

I reckon it will be ok as long as it works , probably as good as anything else at the end of the day . :D . Al

I recently changed out my RRS battery. My old battery seemed OK for starting but it would show HDC fault imessages on cold starts.

Used a Varta Silver DIN88 High Case 830CCA 100AH. No more fault messages
Cost was $ 246.36 plus GST from Challenge Batteries WA

Hi Nomad, I don't think there'll be any problems with it - DIN8x is the standard size for these cars so whether it's 85 or 88 shouldn't make a difference, only to the CCA. Like I said the starter turns over as easily as ever. Century are a good brand and I've always used their batteries, albeit in cars that were certainly less fickle.

hi im in the same position my sport just lapsed warranty and ive only found the varta h3 830 to date, but im worried its a bit small for the job. $650 for the lr battery in coffs or $330 for the farta, a few places said it MUST be oem if i want the same spec as there isnt another on the market. Any help? H

Do you have a model number - might need one for the D4... assuming they are ok for the D4?

Yes I am talking about a D4 3.0l, same engine as the RRS.

No it's not that one, at least the model No. is different.

The new battery fitted by the dealer is an Exide battery with a Jaguar sticker on it. Model No. is BH42-10655-BA which must be an OEM number because a search of Exide's Australian, UK and US web site shows that model No. is unknown.

A web search for this model No. shows a few hits but they are almost all foreign language web sites, eg Batterie EXIDE Technologies SAS EK920 pas cher - Démarrage et Charge : Batteries de démarrage - Batterie EK920 (http://www.oscaro.com/batterie-exide-technologies-sas-ek920-4144134-2585-p)

A translation of the page says this battery is designed for vehicles with 'Stop and Start' technology. Just what I need :D
