Fuel filler flap mechanism

My filler flap wont close as the pin has disappeared. I can hear the mechanism working but must have dropped into the interior. Rave isn't helpful about accessing that area...

Do I get at it from inside the car or underneath? thanks ahead of time.

Just found it in RAVE... looking in the wrong place.

I had this problem on my previous car.
I just fished around with a bit of fine wire through the hole and pulled it back up.
What I did next was to use the end bit (where the point comes out) of a biro, cut it down a bit and screwed it into the hole with the pin in the middle. Never had the problem again. Crude but it worked;)
