Hi all, recently been trough a conversion to a disco 3.9 on a 89 classic, all coming together now but despite reading thousands of threads from people who have already done this i have 2 connectors left i cannot figure out. the first comes from the main loom directly above the starter motor and is a single spade, as pictured below. looks to me like it wants to go to the starter but i already have the rangie connector from the body loom connected there and not sure which to use, or if it should even be there;

The second is a three pin that comes out of the loom with the wires to the coil, this one has me beat, no ideas at all on this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Dunno about the first one, what is the wire colour? The second one is easy, its the harness from the Disco distributor to the remotely mounted amplifier. this usually mounts with the coil next to the radiator. If you are using the original RRC dissy you will not need this plug as the amplifier is on the side of the dissy. Otherwise you will need a remote amp off a late D1 or convert to a Bosch BIM024 amp/module.

Hi, thanks for that, will get looking for the remote amp, in the rave it lists the ignition module is this the same thing? the first wire is black only, solid black would that mean it is just a constant ground? thanks

Do you have the oil pressure and coolant temp senders connected to things? That's what the first one looks like to me having had mine in and out of the engine bay.

Yes remote amp and ignition module are the same thing. I'm with Mac Man on the single wire. My first thought was the coolant sensor. Does it have enough length to reach the top of the engine near the altenator.

Test the resistance of your black wire with a multi meter to the engine block. If it's an earth it may have been connected to an accessory valve you don't need. There should be a number of wires earthed at the back of the engine with a ring terminal or two.
If you can't find an original ignition module you can substitute the Bosch one. I do this all the time as the Lucas ones are delicate to put it mildly.
Thread here on ignition amp/module swaps:

Thanks all, cable has the best part of 1 mtr to play with, can reach the alternator easily. Water temp sensor looks to be 2 pins - do they have more than 1 water sensor i could have missed? dose not quite reach oil pressure, their is another cable that does so i think that one should be right. there is no connection to ground at all completely open to the block and the grounding points on the block and engine. thanks for the bosh hack as well, seems simple enough.

2 pin temp sensor is for the ECU, single wire one is for the dash gauge. Senders are both near the front of the inlet manifold somewhere. Also is the wire black because of a covering, is it really coloured underneath?
