My TD5 went for a swim in the Mary River. Was backing down a boat ramp to to pick up my boat, the ramp was covered in mud and my foot slipped off the brake on to the throttle and off I went :(
Had just spent 6k on it too with a new head and gear box.
Wasn't fun trying to get out through the window

All is not lost!..I saw this "documentary" program on the TV. Apparently, all you have to do is mope around for a few weeks, then walk along the beach, and hey presto, there it is!...admittedly, his was a hilux :)

Happened in May last year. Insurance covered it. Took about a month but all good.

Did you not read the manual? The wading depth is 700mm, not 1.7m.
At least the insurance coughed up.:BigThumb:

Geez, don't feel too bad, I did exacly that in my County- slipped & my foot got wedged under the front wheel - real lucky I usually wear steel capped boots & that allowed about 10 blokes to grab the bullbar until I could release my foot from the boot( & stop drowning) & get it started again. Water got to the bottom of the rear door & pedals & I think the trailer got into the mud which helped.
Sorry to see you were'nt as lucky, still the title could have been "how I left the Human Race"

In the Mary River!!
I bet it was a quick swim to shore as that place is full of crocs.
You aren't the first and won't be the last. Just glad you made it to shore in one piece.
