View Full Version : Blowen cigarette lighter

Hi,
my 12v power supply (cigarette lighter) has stopped working and the light for it is also not working. The interior lights work so the main fuse has not blown.

Is there a secondary fuse?

Do I really need to take the whole of the centre console out to get at it?

Fuse under dash can go and interior lights still function.

Thanks for the help.

I had no joy with fuse location from the owners manual or the workshop manual.

Update.
Fuses 32 OK, plugs in the back OK.

No power to plug at the back. the light works and I've checked the -ve wire is OK.

So why no power to the plug? (I think it is a blue and white wire)

Hi Gullible,

Have just read this thread again and realised that the socket is the one in the dash, and not the one in the rear.

Fuse 15 (left row of fuses 4th from bottom) is the one you want and the cable is light green with white stripe.

Check that you have power from both sides of the fuse to earth.

Earth wire from socket is common for power and lamp so this is likely to be the problem.

Test with a multimeter or test lamp.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi biggin,
Thanks for the update.

I checked the earth and had the light working before I refitted the console. Nothing worked after I had refitted the console. :(

I'll check fuse 15 and have another look at the light.

If this does not work I'm thinking about replacing the socket. Will I need a Land Rover replacement or will any generic socket do?

Yay, Fuse 15 it was.

Thanks for all the help. It looks like I'll have to get a Gregory manual. :(
