I need to replace my windscreen (insurance job), and noticed my windscreen rubber will also need replacing. I imagine this is covered, so will need to buy my own.

Karcraft sell a Bearmach job for a good price. MR Auto is a bit more expensive, but they didn't tell me the brand.

Any ideas if the Bearmach rubber is OK?

The word for Defender screens is only go genuine. See: www.aulro.com/.../1998-110-defender-windscreen-rubber.html#post1811838 (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/164568-1998-110-defender-windscreen-rubber.html#post1811838)

I posted in that thread, but got no response about the Bearmach. Thought I might have a better response putting it in the thread title.

I'll call MR again tomorrow, and see if there's is the genuine.

I think mine's a Bearmach, it went on almost a year ago and replaced a very cracked original (or it was there when I bought the car with 110K on it). It's lasted well so far. I bought two as they were only about $30ea (ex UK), so there's a back up rubber if I need it. I've since put the glass insurance option on the car, so may not need to use the spare for a long time.

A good thing its under insurance. I just had my windscreen replaced today. New rubber needed as original was perished. $743 including new rubber. Supposedly genuine but I was not there for install so who knows. I did not have time to source my own rubber. But at $200 odd for the rubber it would not be a bad idea to give the alternatives a go. Guy doing the install also told my other half that he gets given all the defender jobs as the last time they gave a defender job to another installer he broke three windscreens before success. Sorry my response does not really help with your question.

I hope the BM ones are ok as that's what I have, ready to go when I get a new 'screen.

FWIW, MR supplies 'Europart' windscreen rubbers.

Picked up a Bearmach rubber from MR today, despite what they told me on the phone about it being Europart.

Then, the mob doing the screen under insurance tells me they will be supplying a 'genuine' rubber free of charge! I'll be interested to see what brand it is...
