Just about to pull the trigger on an Xrox bar. I was just wondering how much work (for a very non mechanical person) it would be to change myself.

Cheers

Is there a bar on it at the moment Phil, or the original bumper??

Funnily enough, I've just pulled the trigger on one today myself....

You should have no problem....it's only nuts and bolts at the end of the day. An extra pair of hands will come in handy....but with a bit of simple rigging and using stands/jacks I dare say one could do it by yourself.

I should be able to rope someone into help! No jacks or stands, so a 2nd person would be the best bet.

Hey buddy!

As stated mate, it shouldn't be more than a few nut and bolts.

Sorry, I can't really help, as I've never owned a Disco that hasn't got a bar fitted already, and to remove said bars, it's only been 4 bolts. Not sure what's involved with a factory setup, but it wouldn't be much more I'd have thought.

The xrox looks the goods mate. I'll likely be getting one soon too to replace my ARB, that is, if I can't get my D1 Millweld Comp bar to fit my D2.

By the way, your Disco is WAY to clean. :p

I'll have to give it a shot before hitting the mechanics then. haha...

I want the ARB sahara, but it all seems like too much work to fit to the DII.

That was taken the month I bought it. It's not so clean now. I have locusts in the front grill from our last trip!

I found taking the original plastic bumper off harder than putting my ARB one on
It's pretty easy, although ropes help.
I'm assuming it comes with crush cans?
Definitely bar > crush cans > chassis as opposed to crush cans > chassis > bar.
Good luck!
Don't forget, pics or it never happened! :D

OK. Use 12mm bolts instead of 10mm. You'll need to file out the rough cut holes in the crush cans but they fit and it moves less on the larger bolts. Fit cans first, then bar centre then outer pieces. You may need to fit the bolts for the outer sections and put the nuts to them to keep in place but it can be done this way and is much lighter. If you have a winch fit after, you can fit (well a tigerz 12000 will) it from underneath. You'll probably need an offset hawse for the rope as well. Fit with the upper bolts then fit the lower through the hawse.

Thanks guys!

Awaiting final invoice, and I should get it after my holidays in Feb.

I'll see what arrives before making the decision to install. :lol2:

Yes it's easy done! Comes with good instructions so just follow them through.

Took me only a couple of hours including fitting a 12000lb winch to the xrox bar.

It's a great bar, my only complaint would be the lack of protection for indicators. I will get around to welding some extra bars on mine to correct this one day.

This, absolutley this. Actually I think I used half inch..., but yes you will need to file etc, and thats a bit of a pain, but, if you, or anyone else who may have owned the truck previously, has tested the bumper off road, then there will be some slop in the chassis holes. Also, the crush cans you get with the Xrox, are heavy steel, so will not just compress easily under 10mm bolt tension. Ie, they will not flatten easily to match the contour of the chassis rails they sleeve around, so the heavier bolts help here, and in addition if you choose top add a winch, well.....

I would also put hose straight on to the headlight washer jets output with a blocking bolt, rather than leaving the existing connector as mine tended to leak afterwards.

Cheers all!

The bar has arrived and is in the back of the Disco.

I'll pull it out in a few days and sus it all out.

CDL also arrived this week. :D
