I don't mean beer.
I mean real poison.
Just opened a bottle of JW black label I got for christmas.
I like it!
A billion times better than red label.
Not that it would be hard.
Wine can be included in this too.
And girly mixed drinks if that's what you like :D

Rarely drink anything these days owing to health restraints. But Danish-Swedish-Norwegian Akvavit straight from the freezer is hard to beat. Be careful buying akvavit as some of the flavours are an acquired taste. Don't buy German akvavit. The tyskers don't have a clue about akvavit.

Danske vodka is top shelf.

Hennessy or Courvoisier cognac.

Seppelts Para Liquer Port. Ouch! The gout!

Good Gin IMHO is gin that you can't buy in a chain store. My last two bottles came one from France and one from England. The French one was from a little boutique bottlo in a burb of Paris.

Failing that I fall back to Stones Green Ginger Wine. Large bottles. Straight. With ice or stones.

TALISKER SINGLE MALT peaty, smoky, beeeaaauuuttiiifffuuulll !!

Was in Edinburgh,Scotland, a few years ago and did the Whisky Tour.
At the end of the tour we went to the very large whisky shop. The assistant asked what I thought of the whisky and I told her it was a very good range BUT it was cheaper in Hobart !! She said she had been told that before, there is a local 66% VAT(tax) on all whisky in Scotland.
Crazy to be dearer in Scotland than Hobart !!

And yes, a small dash of water releases the whisky flavours.

There is something that has not come up for mention yet....and, if you are talking about effect, I have one word: "mampoer".

A South African 'moonshine' home-distilled brandy made from peaches, prickly pears...almost anything. It is made and bottled by licenced distillers across South Africa.

The first time I tried any, it was a box full that had been flown up to Mogadishu, in Somali. My Sef Efrikaan friends demonstrated a great deal of ceremony with the partaking of mampoer and...bejeesus...there are probably H&S reasons why.

I had two shots...and that was well enough.......85% alcohol.

I brought a bottle of that back from Holland when my sis-in-law lived there. I remember we paid something stupid like 7Euros for a 75cl bottle.

You wouldn't say that it would put hair on your chest.....more remove hair than help grow it. I think it was the inspiration for the Americans inventing Agent Orange in the Vietnam War.

I didn't say Korn is a good drink. I said it is a hard drink. Popular with the dock workers etc. in North Europe.

IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION

Do you have feelings of inadequacy?

Do you suffer from shyness?

Do you sometimes wish you were more assertive?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist about Cabernet Sauvignon.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the safe, natural way to feel better and more confident about yourself and your actions. It can help ease you out of your shyness and let you tell the world that you're ready and willing to do just about anything.

You will notice the benefits of Cabernet Sauvignon almost immediately and, with a regimen of regular doses, you can overcome any obstacles that prevent you from living the life you want to live.

Shyness and awkwardness will be a thing of the past and you will discover many talents you never knew you had.

Stop hiding and start living.

Cabernet Sauvignon may not be right for everyone. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use it. However, women who wouldn't mind nursing or becoming pregnant are encouraged to try it.

Side effects may include: dizziness, nausea, vomiting, incarceration, loss of motor control, loss of clothing, loss of money, loss of virginity, delusions of grandeur, table dancing, headache, dehydration, dry mouth, and a desire to sing Karaoke and play all-night rounds of Strip Poker, Truth Or Dare, and Naked Twister.

WARNINGS:

* The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may make you think you are whispering when you are not.

* The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may cause you to tell your friends over and over again that you love them.

* The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may cause you to think you can sing.

* The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may create the illusion that you are tougher, smarter, faster and better looking than most people.

Now just imagine what you could achieve with a good Shiraz.

Hi All,
... have been following this thread for a while now ... and today simply want to add my ideas on "preferred poisons".
Funny thing is, when traveling abroad for longer periods, I nearly always found that I missed German "Weizenbier" (i.e. wheat beer) the most. ... At home, though, I never really drink it unless it's a really hot summer's day (which, unfortunately, rarely occurs!).
Concerning "real" poison: Talisker 57° North simply is great. Even "peatier" (= greater) is Lagavulin or Laphroaig. Personally, I also really like Highland Park from the Orkneys (maybe because I simply love the place and people)!
Apart from Whisk(e)y, I also really like rum. Bundaberg is OK, Havana Club is better, but the best rum I've had so far was Pyrat Rum (Pyrat Rum: The Enlightened Ultra-Premium Dark Rum (http://www.pyratrum.com)) ... simply great. It's something for hard guys, cos it's really strong, still, women like it because of the soft orange flavour to it. Simply great stuff, you wouldn't want to mix with anything! Also great is Flor de Cana from Nicaragua.
All the best, Mike

Hi Disco44..

I find Rum terribly sweet on my pallet at the best of times. So not really a subjective consumer of said liquid.

However on those occasions where I have had Bundy (OP, Dble etc etc) I found it horrendous! I avoid it at all costs now.

I'm now a consumer of quality Whiskey and don't mind the odd drop of Red either.. Both have a suitable place including here at the work camp! Where a few of us enjoy a laugh and a drop or 3 each evening.

I'm not particularly brand loyal - chasing rather the well rounded smoothness of a good 18yr old (Scotch that is)..
Our a nice Merlot, Cab or even a Shiraz if the occasion warrants it..

Grange - over rated grape juice....

I'm the distributor in West Oz, great booze and Australia's most awarded whisky, just won another gold at the World Whisky Awards a week or so ago. The Marsalle Company (http://www.larkdistillery.com.au/distributors/the-marsalle-company)
This is their US distributor, I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Group buy!!! :D
