Horrible, she should be penalized for it. Totally unnecessary.

Anyone that blurts out like she does should be penalised, and save it for an adult film or somewhere more appropriate. It redonkulus.

Andrew

save it for an adult film

Second thoughts, it's bloody horrible. Definitely not an adult film sound effect.

It's so annoying I've got to change channels.

Question... Can a player who is playing against say azarenka make a complaint to the umpire saying that she is completely put off by the screams? Can the umpire order azarenka to shut up? Is there legitimate recourse for the non screamer? From someone who knows bugger all about tennis

Bird amongst the pigeons here, but I think because the women's tennis is generally pretty poor and the tennis marketing team don't know how to change it without offending someone or losing money. Controversy generally is a money spinner though. The bellowing definitely needs to go but the administrators are not sure on what angle to approach it.

AHHH!! the post is about screaming women tennis players, for someone that doesn't watch womens tennis it was a lot baffling reading the first post.
Womens tennis is without doubt the most boring crap that has ever been perpertrated on the viewing public, with men's tennis a close second, Regards Frank.

Martina Navratilova called loud grunting "cheating pure and simple". The rules of tennis say that distracting your opponent should result in the loss of the point. You are most definately not allowed to say anything to your opponent while the ball is in play so why should you be able to scream? Technically, players on adjacent courts could be allowed to replay points if the unholy screams from these women interfere with their play.
If you play a lot of tennis, and I have, then you will know that the sound of the ball leaving the strings of the other player is very important to your reactions. These dills cover the sound with their shrieking and give themselves an advantage by doing so. There are moves afoot to ban it altogether but I'll believe it when I see it.
Hey Tank, sorry but cricket tops my list of boring sports to either watch or play. Womens tennis is near the top though....not that I watch the mens tennis either. :)

So by rights, if a player making a racket (excuse the pun!) should be docked a point ... this could become quite a strategic thing if the opposing player was down a point at a pivotal point in the game and lodged a complaint at just the right time.
