Hi all

I want to re-upholster my deefer seats as I don't like the idea of not having easy access to my batteries. The ecu has been moved to under the centre consol so that's not an issue.

I can't see why an auto trimmer couldn't make them super supportive and comfortable without having to sell my first born.

Does anyone know of a good auto trimmer in Melbourne they could recommend?
Willing to travel if the jobs done right at a reasonable price.

Thanks

Noogie

I stopped into one on Barry Rd New Gisborne the other day to talk about getting my boat seats done. I don't know what there work is like as have had nothing done there, I just dropped in as I saw it driving past. It looked ok though.

I asked ball park figures and sounded about right but have not shopped around. Can't hurt to ask.

I would normaly have jumped at this trip but I still have to get a clutch issue sorted. Keep me in mind for future trips, all ways good to have someone to go out with.

Can you remember what price he quoted?
Surely it's gotta be more cost effective to go this way.
It's just that if I go for a different set of seats, I would want to move my batteries to the rear cargo area, & that'll just add to the expense.
Pm me your phone number & I'll keep you in the loop.
Cheers

I have used Tylden trim for a few jobs on my old car and my camper. Both times he has done good work at a competitive price. Happy to recommend!

Disco seats are an easy comfy alternative.
In the past I used to get my seat base modified. Veterans Affairs suggested it due to bad back.
I used to go to an upholsterer and get them to remove cover and they would build up foam with varying density and then carve/sculpt it to shape. I would then drive around for a few days with a towel over it to test it then any adjustments made then recovered. Worked well and lasted 3_4 years.
It was done in Hobart so no help but I chose them as they were accustomed to building/ rebuilding seats for enthusiests.
It never cost me over $150
Good luck with it.

Do the disco seats fit ok?
Are we talking up to disco 2& do they have a removable seat for access to batteries?
Thanks for the tip?

Classic and sports interiors in Eltham. Google him
Very creative and great work.
I had him rebuild/reset the Subaru Impreza seat bases I have in the County.
Wife has a chronically bad back and she can sit in these all day long :)

I went down to Tylden Trimmers today and had a chat with the owner.
Quoted approx $800 for front and rear.

Includes re-sculpturing front seats for more thigh & back bolstering/support and pump up lumbar support. Gonna put head rests in the rear also. He said he had recently done another defenders rear seats with head rests.
I've just got to supply the head rests and he'll install them.

Gonna tart the old girl up with all new fabric. I'm a little partial to an exmoor trim that has black on the sides with red centre.
Not sure if it's too blingy or not.
I'll post pics up once it has been done and report on how it feels.

Should keep the better half and kids happy.
Now I've got to get the aircon to keep us cold and the drafts out.

Watch this space.

Cheers Mick

Ok folks.
I am a very excited little camper right now as I will be picking up my newly re-upholstered seats, front & rear tomorrow.

Both front seats have been repadded with more bolstering put in.
Both front seats will have pump up lumbar support.
Rear seats have been totally reconstructed with a very defined bolstering put in and he has been told to make them very comfy.

The trim is a hard wearing black with red piping around the edge and red stitching. Yeah I know that sounds a little bling, but IMO it looks pretty good. My only issue might be keeping them clean, but I have already ordered front plastic seat covers for when I go out for a play from UK.

Just gotta source rear covers for the deefers.
Later on I will sort out rear head wrests which will be adjustable and attached to the cargo barrier.

I'll post pictures once I have it all installed.
