Hey guys I have this to send
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2013/01/147.jpg
and I am not sure if i can just wrap it more and then finally wrap it in plain paper if that will be good enough to send.
or does it have to be in a bag/tube/box
it wont fit in a tube or a bag( i dont think) but if i had to put it in a box it would take up a lot of room due to the length and the angle.
I know I could just ask them but I dont want to stand in line for an hr just to ask if I dont have too.
and for those wondering it is a gear stick

Get a postal tube and split it up the side so the lever fits. Cut it in half so you can offset the splits and tape the hell out of it.:D

Or a long box.
If you use box cardboard and just fold it over the gear stick and tape it all up it should be ok.

Is it longer than 105cm? if so Aust Post will not take it.

This thread raises some big questions. Bubble wrap? Cardboard? What size is the object? Not to mention the average size of a letter box issue.
I, for one cannot answer such big questions. Might I suggest a letter to the Queen? Surely only someone with a lifetime of great worldly experience can answer such a question! :p
You COULD ask at the post office, but what if the senior customer service officer is on long service leave? I can't imagine a junior customer service officer could help.
Good luck and please report back with your findings. ;)

You could try these people.
Courier, Parcel Delivery & Shipping Services in Australia:Same Day Delivery (http://www.e-go.com.au/home.do;jsessionid=0B90B0288EE367D83ABA76C02F07BA5 E)
It's best use their cheaper rates for the depot to depot.

You do understand Australia Post has a website chock full of useful info, laid out according to topic? It includes dimensional limits for parcels, rates etc. etc.:):):)

the reason I aksed is because of its odd shape and what would be the best option. I scanned the auspost many times for info.
I had to put it in a big tube as it was the only thing that would fit as a box would be to big and therefore to expensive, all sent now

As a former Aust Post worker I suggest that if the item is fragile or easily bent send it in PVC drain piping cut to size.
Do not forget to pack/pad the item so it is not loose in the cylinder, and secure the ends with PVC caps or heavy tape.
If the item is fairly strong, Aust Post have a range of sizes of cardboard tubing available.
Again, remember to pack it so it is secure in the tube, and ensure that the end caps are well secured with heavy tape (not 3M sticky tape as I had often seen).
