Hi all

The above link refers to a D2 with various mods, one of which is a brake upgrade.

It refers to update model calipers being different to early D2 calipers. Apparently, the later calipers give a better pedal. ...not so soft....
Anyone got any info on this? Will update calipers, if they are better, fit pre-update models of the D2?

Cheers

Hi Kev,

I don't think there will be any issues. I seem to recall that the master cylinder was also changed too. There is a part change between D2 and D2a, but the D2a version is listed as the current replacement on earlier cars so the differences can't be earth shattering.

The other thing that was changed between the D2 and D2a was the SLABS ECU. I can't be 100% on this point but it seemed to me there was a small but noticeable improvement in pedal feel after updating from the D2 SLABS to a 2004MY SLABS ECU. In theory the upgraded ECU shouldn't make any difference until you brake hard enough to active EDB, so I wouldn't want to testify on this. :D

I'd also second the Expedition Exchange recommendation on DBA rotors and genuine pads. Apart from the increased brake dust on the rims from the genuine pads it's a brilliant combination. I've put on the T2 slotted rotors rather than the cross drilled jobs: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2/152632-brake-pads-disc-rotors-paddocks-3.html
