2 years and still amazing!

Have had the SDV6 SE for 2 years now and am still amazed every time I drive it. It's done 74000kms of mostly highway commuting with a bit of towing thrown in. Original Goodyears lasted 68000kms so replaced with the same as they seem pretty suited to what we do. To date the only issue I've had is the mp3 player causing some problems with skipping audio during playback - fixed by changing the way I burn the discs. Hope the next 2 years give me as much pleasure! :):)

I love it when I hear those sort of comments, too many people don't realize how good these vehicles are and we all need to shout out more how good LR vehicles are now, sure they have had there problems in the past but from what I have seen that is well and truly behind them. Now we just need all the new Toyota owners to take their heads out of the sand and realize they don't have an indestructible vehicle and if anything have more problems now than many other manufacturers.

I love my Disco, but there are a lot of horror stories out there and not enough good ones. It helps me feel better about my choice of vehicle.

I must admit to being nervous about the D4 when I first got it, especially until the first few longer road trips were done - I found myself wondering if I would have felt that way if I had bought a Prado.:wasntme:

Now, after a year of ownership, I look at Prados and wonder if the driver knows what they are missing :p - and I don't even have a 3.0L.

We just spent Friday and Saturday (Australia day) driving the 2000 km across the Nullarbor from Perth to Ceduna, spent the night in Ceduna and spent one and a half days driving back to Esperance with a camper trailer I purchased from Adelaide. After licencing the trailer for WA we then spent the next afternoon driving the 800 km back to Perth.

The car went brilliantly and we had a great trip. I don't think any other vehicle (other than a RRS) would be as comfortable and capable for outback touring. We passed a convoy of two D4's towing large caravans heading east somewhere east of Nullarbor Roadhouse. Fantastic camping in the middle of the Nullarbor in a roof top tent on the outward journey and the new camper on the return journey.

On Monday morning we tackled the Ballodonia track which heads south from Ballodonia and ends up in Esperance. This is about as rough as a semi made road can get and the D4 handled it beautifully, as did the air sprung offroad camper trailer. Deeply rutted dried up mud holes, corrugations, sand and rocky surfaces were no problem. The track was probably worse than the Great Central Road we did last year in the D4.

After negotiating the roughest section of road my wife innocently remarked how smooth the road was! Here I am gritting my teath thinking about the work the suspension is doing and she just thinks it is a walk in the park! You couldn't have a better endorsement for the D4 in really rough conditions and all this with the 255x60x18 Continentals at road pressures. ( I have GOE 18 inch wheels on my 2010 3l D4)

FYI, my car ticked over 107,000 km on the 4000 km trip. When I bought it in Sydney 13 months ago it had done 55,000 km. We've been everywhere, man!

Picked my MY12 SDV6 SE up in late November and have done 4000k already. That's heaps for me. Hopping in and driving it on the dullest errand is still a thrill for me.

Over 2 years young for my MY11 SDV6. Lots of mods and lots of fun to drive. Only real issue has been the BT which is being replaced by the dealer.

Land Rover have always been the innovators introducing new technology to the market. They as a consequence they cop all the flak for being "unreliable" and such forth. I can not for the life of me work out how the Australian public can embrace a Japanese brand that copies everything LR releases. And a year later, Toyota's version appears and they put on a million dollar ad campaign to brain wash the Australian public yet again. My D2a still amazes me every time I hitch up the van, a 23ft Retreat Daydream and it tows it every where we want it to go with minimum of fuss. I cant imagine what a D4 would be like. Maybe one day.....
