Yes, apparently they can be rebuilt, and there are some kits of gaskets+seals out there:
Power Steering Pump Seal Kit for LAND ROVER Discovery II 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 (http://www.bestpartsonline.com/servlet/the-2095/Power-Steering-Pump-Seal/Detail)
and in ebay as well
Power Steering Pump Seal Kit 9170 Land Rover Discovery II 1999 2004 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Steering-Pump-Seal-Kit-9170-Land-Rover-Discovery-II-1999-2004-/160813121340)
Don't know if it will fit the Td5 as well, the pump is similar but I don't know if its internals are.
No problem in taking the rear cover out, the rotor and everything else. The only problem is the flange.
Has anybody attempted to dismantle the pump completely, in order to access the front bearing and oil seal?
If so, is there a snap ring that allows to extract spindle and flange or do they have to be split before removing the spindle?
Best regards
Robert
