i dont know how to describe this sound but i'll do my best.
its a "clack" or a "clank" sound which comes from around underneath the driver. most noticeable on the smoothest surface when you come off the accelarator and slowing down. i can also feel it in the accel. pedal. it does this under accelaration too but hard to notice.
almost like youve run over a little stud on the road or your tyre flicks a little wooden stick and that hits the chassis.
how did i do with the description? no laughing
any ideas?

It the ACE system running a self test routine.
This was supposedly fixed with an ECU update which was fitted after YA233198 (early MY2000, built after 13 July 1999). I have a 2000MY with the revised ECU and it still makes the occasional clunk, although it is usually just after I've driven off when the system is meant to do a check.
This was the description of the original problem.
KNOCK FROM SUSPENSION ON SMOOTH ROADS - ACE ECU
The customer complains of an occasional knock under certain driving conditions:
• When travelling at a speed above 15mph, (24km/h).
• When travelling on a smooth surface with no camber.
• With the above maintained for longer than 7 seconds.
CAUSE:
The knock occurs as a result of an ACE
system ECU self diagnostic routine which
closes hydraulic valves momentarily as an
operational check.
The fix was to install the RQT100024 ECU, but this was factory fitted from 13 July 1999 up to the end of 2003MY. 2004MY used a different ACE ECU which doesn't appear to be interchangeable.
cheers

As you've recently changed an ACE actuator it might be worth reading the tech bulletin L8533bu and checking through the points in there. It could be that you've disturbed something. Have you had the ACE system bled since you did the work on it?
The other thing to do is check the condition of all the bushes and mounts in the ACE system. If everything is in good condition it won't be so much of a metallic clonk, more a dull thud.
It's a bit hard to diagnose a noise via a text based medium, but 99% it will be something to do with the ACE system closing valves to self test.

Thanks for that. İ had the system bled with nanocom thanks to a good person here. İ did replace the lower bush, i dont think its any bush coz u'll be on beutiful new laid tarmac approaching a red light and "clank".
Does it have to do it every minute?
Just having trouble downloading that pdf. Might be the phone
Thanks
