I know there are various topics around the I accuracy of the fuel consumption figures.
Having done 3,000ks now since end nov I could not be happier with the D4, just love driving it, and I'm only a young bloke!:D

The one thing that has not aligned for me is the fuel consumption vs k's per tank vs actual. I have done varied driving over the past month or so which has probably netted out to be 50/50 hwy city. No matter what type of driving I do I always get approx 600k's out of a tank, yet my fuel consumption on the screen has gone from 13's to the last trip running at 9.6, yet I only got again 600k's out of the tank. I am tracking the fuel consumption manually and I am avg high 12's to 13 litres per hundred since I got the car new.

I have been towing wood from tanjil bren to melb, i have been in bumper to bumper all week in the city, etc it just is not making sense as the end result is the same amount of k's no matter what the manual or screen economy says. It seems the LR calculation is up to 2 litres per hundred k's out.

Also can I expect the fuel consumption to improve as the k's tick over? From memory it should be around the 10k mark I should see better results in fuel economy. I am to date wrapped with the economy for the driving I have been doing and for such a big car, I am hoping though there is more to come.

Any input or thoughts needed.

Cheers

My fuel consumption average at 30145km is 15.1 l/100 (use gas manager iphone app) Factory shows 12.7 l/100

Most of the time the factory is out by close to 2 l/100 but biggest difference was 2.4 l/100.

Land Rover won't have it that the trip puta is wrong....and I have shown them the records.

My VW Touareg with 3 LT tdi over the same period is 10.7 l/100.....but not as much towing as the Disco, no offroad, but more city driving. VW shows 10.6 l/100....VW is accurate.

The D4 is fairly thirsty compared to my Touareg, but its heavier, and puts a smile on my dial. Neighbours 200 by comparison based on his records with similar work is 17.5...and he uses oil even though Toyota say they have fixed it.

My D4 has lots fitted so adds weight. If I was careful I could get it down....but no fun that way.

4000 km since late November. Average (real life) 10.3, trip computer 8.8.

I drive like a nanna. Must get out and give it a blow through. Never even used command shift on the rare occasions when I do give it just a bit, it takes off!

Mine is at least 1 to 2L/100 k's out and the stealers can't seem to sort it.

One of my brothers has a honda something,it is spot on every tank. The other brother has a Plado, also spot on.Mate has an XR6 also almost spot on.

The D4 is the worst of all of them:(

I just can't work out why LR can't seem to sort it.

As for actual fuel economy,on a long run, lightly loaded i can't get an actual(calculated myself) of less than 10.5L/100.
That sort of driving i could get high eights with the D2a.

Still a fantastic vehicle,no other complaints:)

Long runs, lightly loaded I can now get low 9s, ie 9.2 - 9.3 l/100k based on actual usage at the pump. Trip Computer says ~ 8.2 l/100k

When new, 10 - 12 was the norm. They do seem to get better over time.

Wow... How slow do you guys drive / leave lights etc.?

My D4 consistently gets 10-11km/l and its not babied in the slightest.

You've all got me watching the next few tanks because I get 600 to a tank before the light even comes on and never put in more then 65-67 litres.

My TD5 couldn't pull under 13 and still doesn't mind you - it's got a fair whack of mods!
