No brake lights, why?

Hello everyone, On my 1996 V8 discovery the brake lights have stopped working, the center light still works and the tail lights work as well.
I have changed the globes but still they don't work. Can anyone please help ???

Do you have a multi meter? if not, get one they are only about $30. Then you need to find where the break in the circuit is. As a start test for continuity between the negative and positive terminals of the light cluster and their respective terminals on the battery.

If you can get a circuit diagram this will also help immensely. I don't have access to one right now but when I do I will send you one, although someone else may beat me to it! Alternatively buy a haynes manual, which has one in it.

they have a really bad earth problem. had the exact same problem on mine. just tap into the existing earth wire and add a circle terminal and screw it into the body. i did mine roughly 3 months ago and havent had a problem since. plus once the cover is on the back of the lights no one can even see it.

Have you checked the plunger switch fitted to pivot point on the brake pedal? Mine broke a few years ago....simple fix but awkward to get to.

Just replaced one of them in my '91RRC so presume it's much the same. Mine was internally melted as the stop light load on my trailer was too much for it to cope (4x21W so everyone sees them!).
