Sadly after a number of happy years... the Defender is on its way out.

Cost of necessary repairs as well as almost necessary ones makes it nonviable. The better option for me is to sell the Defender unregistered and put the $ toward a Disco1.

I've never owned a Disco before, but having owned a Range Rover and 2 Defenders... it's probably about time!

I am paying $8K for a 96 Tdi with about 285K kms on it, however:

It's got a MR Automotive service history, is in good nick, is an auto, air con works in fact everything works, new timing chain, headlining, turret repainted (was fading), dual battery system, sidesteps etc.

Only thing it's missing is a snorkel.

Will be getting that end Feb/begin March.

So - hello D1 peoples !!!!

Suspension is standard height.

Bonus is that it also has a front ARB alloy bar and an ARB rear bar. Cool.

Tan interior (because of maroon body colour) but hey nothing's perfect.

Nice. I admit that if my garage was 2" higher, I would have bought a 2" lift kit by now, but instead I've lived with standard height and have still managed to drive some of the toughest tracks.

Maybe don't ask what condition my side steps are in...
