I have these sides for the roof that are off an 88' but have no windows in the back so can anyone tell me what this maybe off.

I belive there for the earlest series 2s that were ment for the UK home market.

They are quite rare :)

My series 1 roof is the same as that - windows on the side and nothing at the back so I would say they are standard series 1 roof sides.

Mine is the same as this.

A widowless version that has had side windows retrofitted?

Cheers, Mick.

they are definitely unmolested and are the same as the other sides that came off a s3 but just do not have the windows in the rear.
I guess i better not scrap it then

They look like standard S1 to me, vertical sides, don't S2 slope inwards?

ah yes good thinking Terry they do. so they must be off a s1 or an early s2 that they put the s1 roof on

Series 2. They look too short in height for Series 1, I think you will find that measuring the width of the panel that does not have a window, you will find that it is tapered, making it 2/2a/3..

Series 2, or at least early ones, did not have a window in the rear panels. Not sure when they introduced it, but I suspect about 2a (1961). Hardtops without the rear windows are quite rare - they were only produced for about three years, compared to the twenty years for the 2a/3 ones with the windows. I had one like this - 1958. It is possible that aftermarket windows have been retrofitted to some.

After another look at the photo it does look tapered. Maybe. Better get the tape meassure out.

UK build S1 hardtops had no side windows, Mine is UK build, I fitted the side windows after a couple of near misses while merging :o:o.

Something to do with UK road tax regs, vans were either lower or no tax I think.

I will have a look on tuesday. I cant really remember if they are tapered or not and the photo might be a bit misleading.
I will also have a search through my photos to see if i have anymore

Yeah there deffly series 2 sides there just way to short for them to be off a series 1 as they had shorter body sides so the hard top sides were made longer

on the corners of the s1 sides they are galvanised where as these are painted which would mean s2 aswell?

Yes. In more detail, S1 has the brackets outside, S2/2a/3 has them inside.
