Ok, I've tried to do a search, but can't find what I'm after.
On one of the threads I was reading a while ago, there was mention of a "fix" for water ingress on the accelerater pedal for the Puma.
Can someone point me in the right direction for this please? :)

Or use it to your benefit, wear dirty shoes when driving and get them cleaned.

Or on a more helpful note..

I saw that reference as well..... I thought it had more to do with protecting the fly by wire at the accelerator pedal from water than the gum boot requirement of door sealing.

Could not see any reference in the Water Ingress Manual ( which will be really helpfull anyway) but would be really interested in finding the thread if anyone can help.
:D

There's one in every crowd :p
(and I ain't lettin a good story get in the way of the truth ;))

Sooo, the only "soft one" here will be you my boy. Have to drive a Disco cause the Defers too harsh :Rolling: Would you like some concrete to "Harden Up" :D

So, back to the problem at hand, yes it's to do with water Getting into the electrics of the pedal - - at the pedal.
Working in a silicone factory, I can get just about anything to seal/stick whatever, but my primary issue is the pedal at this point.

I have no work on today so have time to look around,
Found this on defender2.net it is for a TD5 but may be the same, will keep looking as I get the occasional drip but never thought much about it, but now it is in my head I may try and fix it.

Chops,

I'm after the same remedy. You can go wild with moving the main electronics to a higher position and fitting a snorkel, but get the "fly by wire" throttle sensor wet and your going nowhere fast. Can't move it, so hopefully there is some way of waterproofing it a bit.

Mind if you have 380mm odd of water in the drivers foot well you are wading too slowly...!:D

Cheers,

Lou

Haha, nice call Lou,,

I don't want to move the electrics, and though I can't find any relevent info, other than basically stripping and re-grouting as it were, the entire cabin joins etc, there's not that much info.
I guess the pedal unit could be sprayed with Inox or something similar, but that could cause its own problems collecting dust and dirt maybe (?).
Maybe I could just wrap it up in a plastic bag ;)

Hi Chops,

Have you had any further progress or ideas with making the fly by wire pedal box any more water resistant? If so, does making this one piece of electronics more water resistant improve the wading depth? Do you by any chance use a door rubber spray that assists inhibiting water through the door seals? If so what product do you use or recommend? I probably sound like a member of the Spanish Inquisition with all these questions.

Regards,

Danial.

I got a spray tin of Tetrosyl waxoil stuff and sprayed it on the foam insert between the windscreen and bulk head. I smoothed it off with my finger. I used a flat screw driver to spread it along the top and bottom edge of the foam behind the windscreen bracket things. I also made sure to do the foam at the sides. The stuff repells water so it stops it getting in along the top or bottom of the foam.
Alternatively you could remove the windscreen bracket covers and run a length of heavy duty black top the width of the windsceen wrapping it around the sides. If one edge of the tape is fitted flush to the front bottom edge of the windscreen drain channel then you can smooth it back and cover the foam, then trim the bottom edge just below the bottom of the foam. The tape will just look like the foam it is covering. Once again the tape will prevent water getting in either above or below the foam. Refit the brackets.

I recall the tread too,but cant recall it's heading.

I do however know Pete Simpson on here has had his fly by wire accelerator under water several times in fresh and muddy waters and had no ill effect at all. Though his truck is a TD5, it has the same accelerator set up.

So some hope for us all. I don't quite understand but I have read Traxide mention electronics working under water as well. My dealer said don't get it wet, and LR in general would say so to reduce potential issues. But hopefully it's a bit more robust than we give electrical stuff in general.

still be good read read the thread again
