The Disco I am getting has a dual battery system.
I would like to be able to carry my Engel in the back and to do so I would want to run cable from the 2nd battery back to an Andersen plug (or similar) in the back of the vehicle.

Happy to get any and all advice regarding this as I'm sure others have done similar in the past.

There's bunches of pipes along the DS body under the sill, just cable tie it along here. Tie it securely, keep clear of sharp corners, use a decent wire gauge (6mm nom wire size minimum) inside protective tubing and fit a 30A line fuse at the battery and a 10A fuse at each power socket. Bring the wire up with the trailer wires behind the RH rear trim and secure the earth to a substantial steel panel junction. Fit extra sockets for camping lights or fans etc. Fridges will run happily of Merit/Hella plugs, as well as lights.

I ran my cable through the firewall below the brake booster, up the A pillar, across the front of the roof behind the mirror and along the roof on the passenger side. I have put a second battery in the rear passenger side corner and have both ends of the cable fused. I didn't fancy running along the chassis as I was concerned about damage and shorting it out under the vehicle.

I've run cables from the engine bay on both driver and passenger side and there was spare grommets or space within already used grommets to fit through new cables.

Assuming your aux battery is on the passenger side like mine, I ran a power lead through the firewall into the passenger footwell and then under the carpet all the way to the rear cargo area. The grommet I used was just behind the windscreen washer fluid. Red and black wire is my fridge lead to the rear.

Clearly my grommet needs fixing!

second battery in front of air box,

from there down to the AC grommet on the fire wall

from there over to the foot well trim.

remove the scrape plate from the floor, poke the wire down behind the footwell trim, out under the corner and place it under the scrape plate.

around the B pillar under the carpet.

under the passanger door scrape plate

under the carpet over the top of the rear wheel arch

up into the interior trim behind the seat belt and then terminate it out on the trim somewhere. I have 3 out lets 2x 32v 2 pole polerised and a merit plug.

I also have a second run that heads across under the glove box, into the trans cover trim and feeds the 2 way and the merit sockets above the rear ash tray.

photos tomorrow if you like, catch up with me at the rocklea markets on sunday or feel free to drop over for a visit.

You may not be interested in this but my D1 fridge cable runs through to the left rear stowage pocket. It's not a fixed socket but on about a 4 metre long cable (including fridge lead) which means I can use the 2nd D1 battery while the Engel is in the camper if the onboard camper battery gets a bit tired without having to worry too much about the vehicle position. It also lets me put the fridge under on annex, or in the tent etc. All the best with it & hope to see some pikkies soon.
