SBW fight Frans Botha tonight. Williams is well ahead on points ending the ninth round, but Botha starts to collect him with the right hand, (some late ones in there but mehh), anyhoo, into the 10th and the ref suddenly announces its a 10 round fight, despite the fact that it has been lodged, publicised etc as a 12 rounder.
Botha is pummelling SBW in the tenth, and Sonny Bill is only just staying on his feet, then the ref calls 30secs left in the round, but the official clock still says 90 secs. The fight goes the 90 secs, but by now Sonny is out on his feet.
SBW gets the win on points, but the crowd is ****ed and once again Boxing decends into a farce. The fight was clearly rigged once they realised SBW was in trouble.
And this a day, the very next day after a major report into match fixing in Australian sport.:lol2::lol2::lol2::lol2:

Rigged? SBW was always going to win? Maybe SBW was referring to his own upcoming victory the other day when he tweeted- "hanging out with @Mundine, celebrating a victory" :D

I'm not surprised I love boxing but its crooked as a dogs hind leg. Edit. I just watched the highlights and in the last seconds of the tenth sbw was looking very second hand and in big trouble

Sport in general lost all credibility once it became professional.

There was a time where being a "sportsman" had nothing to do with what we today refer to as "sports". Cricket, football and such were considered "pastimes", and receiving money to play was tantamount to prostitution.

Fast forward a couple of centuries, and "professional sport" is now just an elaborate tool for parting the general public from their hard earned cash, and anything goes in making sure this happens as efficiently as possible.

I agree they go on about drugs and alcohol and how bad they are in the community gambling seems to really fly under the radar and probably ruins more family's then the booze and drugs

Boxing can't be seen to not be at the bottom rung when it comes to credibility. So in the days after the drugs report they pull one out of the bag.

Boxing officials ready to king hit promoter Khoder Nasser after farcical end to Sonny Bill Williams fight

Sonny Bill's bout

Francois Botha was fuming after a late decision to switch his Sonny Bill Williams bout from 12 rounds to 10 probably cost him victory.
news.com.au9 February

SOME of Australia's leading boxing figures, furious at another tainted promotion staged by the controversial manager of Sonny Bill Williams and Quade Cooper, have called a crisis meeting to curtail his activities in Queensland.

Their decision follows the farcical end to the Khoder Nasser promotion on Friday night that saw Williams score a points victory over South African veteran Frans Botha at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in a fight that was crucially cut from 12 rounds to 10 at the last minute.
The reduction of the rounds almost certainly saved a badly fading Williams, who was out on his feet in the 10th round and on the verge of being knocked out.
Leading betting agencies, who had offered odds for a 12-round fight, refunded all money on Botha. TAB Sportsbet, Centrebet and Sportsbet claimed they gave back almost $150,000 in losing wagers.

Australia's most successful fight trainer, the iconic Johnny Lewis, also said fans at the venue and watching the pay-per-view telecast for $39.95 were entitled to a refund as the fight had been advertised all along as a 12-round title bout.
"Cutting the rounds like that is the hottest thing I've ever heard of," Lewis said.
"It's like cutting an NRL game from 80 minutes to 60 because you're worried about your team's condition."
Lewis said while punters who had backed Botha for a late KO had been denied a collect, the real victim was the sport he loves.

"We've got a lot of talented young kids in Australian boxing and they end up suffering because the sport gets tainted by these scandals."
Cooper lands early blow on critics (http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/boxing-mma/quade-cooper-wins-boxing-debut-in-first-round-tko/story-fndeeomn-1226573947656)
Leading Queensland referee Brad Vocale said simply: "The paying public are just being dudded."
Another leading Queensland boxing official, who did not wish to be named, told The Sunday Mail yesterday: "We are going to have a very serious talk in the next few days pertaining to (Nasser's) promotions in Queensland.

"Cutting the fight from 12 rounds to 10 was very odd, but the night also featured a number of mismatches. It was a dreadful slur on our sport."
Before leaving Brisbane yesterday bound for South Africa, Botha told The Sunday Mail: "You Australians could teach (US promoter) Don King about shonky business.
"I had Sonny Bill out on his feet. He would not have lasted into round 11.
"All through the fight I was pacing myself to take him into deep water in the late rounds. I was just chopping him down, chopping him down. And then I was denied the chance."

WBA Oceania representative Brad Vocale yesterday claimed the Australian public had been "defrauded" over the fight.
"This fight was advertised as a WBA international fight," Vocale said.
"Sadly boxing has been given a black eye again.
"Sonny Bill is not even rated in the Australian ratings. He's never fought 10 rounds. That doesn't qualify him to fight for a WBA title."

Jesus Bob, we've all read the papers. How bout you just offer your own opin.... ahhh on second thoughts, carry on.

Khoder is a crook and SBW has been sucked into it. I see Sonny has talked about a 12 round fight numerous times leading up to it, and then tweets afterwards that he was always preparing for 10 rounds?!!?

Nasser meanwhile tells us that the change was organised just before the fight.

The TAB in NZ who have had issues with SBW suddenly shortening fights before, checked the schedule several times and came up with 12 rounds....

Personally I reckon Nasser was trying to run his own show in a state that has no regulating body, pays off Bothas camp to tow the line and tees up rematches etc on the back of all the publicity.

While this made me ashamed to be a NZer, I come to the conclusion that fights involving this crowd amount to nothing more than the boxing equivalent of the WWF.

Botha tested positive to drugs before the fight !!!

What about that cooper knockout !!! The bloke dived almost as well as a soccer player. Not as elegant but a good effort for a non professional.

Good Blokes like Dave Sands, Eli Bennett and Jack Hassen must be turning in their graves. And Archie Kemp, I wonder what he would have thought.

I expect that we will see williams and cooper in a kfc ad very soon.

The joke is on us of course.
