'The Sunny Boys' are a great and legendary Sydney pub rock band from the eighties.
I doubt if they have any affiliation to the Sunny Cowgirls ?
At least I can say I was still in High School when the The Sunny Boys rose to prominence :D

You missed out the LOVED ONES, guess I must be even older!!
Saw Elvis Costello in Hobart last week (saw him 5 years ago here too).
Sensational rock show, lots of early semi-punk stuff from "My Aim Is True"
The Imposters as usual were brilliant.
Cheers Peter.

The Loved Ones were a bit before my time :p:D
There was an article in The Sydney Morning Herald a few days ago asking what were the quintessential Aussie love songs, and a number of muso's mentioned This is Love and Sad Dark Eyes by The Loved Ones.
From Kylie to Paul Kelly: 10 of the best Aussie love songs (http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/heart-of-the-nation-20130207-2dzdy.html)
There were plenty more bands I could've added like The Church, The Reels, the Mentals, The Cockroaches (how the hell did they become The Wiggles  ) Mondo Rock (my GF at the time loved Come Said the Boy. We actually went to a Mondo gig together after we'd split up  ) etc.
I can't remember now who I saw first at my very first pub/club gig, Mental as Anything or The Cockroaches at the old Penrith Leagues Club.
No, not the first one that was a tin shed, I'm not as old as Pedro, the second one that used to be opposite Penrith Pool, a block, a cow paddock and a lifetime away from the Vegas monstrosity of today.
Hell, I haven't been to Penrith for years either. :D
I well remember seeing I'm Talking at The Entertainment Ctr supporting someone or other and being absolutely blown away by their lead singer, a chick called Kate Ceberano who was too young to go into a pub (as was I at the time) :D
You know, I wasn't that into music, but damn there were some fine bands around to define my adolescence and early twenties.
Got The Church playing in the background as I type....

Rick, I did see that article ,also in the Age, interesting to see lots of older songs mentioned, not many new ones.
Also in that paper was an article about the Stones playing at Kooyong Tennis Centre 40 years ago. I was there !!! I am that old/young.
Relating to your last comment, I WAS into music that much and have been a guitar teacher for the past 35 years.
p.s. Its never too late to learn!!
Cheers Peter

Thanks Peter.
I've often threatened to learn to play an instrument, (read guitar, too old for the piano)
I really do think it helps to be a well rounded human being.
The SIL is an opera singer and her kids play the violin, piano and cello.
I said I wished I'd learnt something when I was young and her hubby said exactly the same.
One of the locals plays and used to teach, his claim to fame is that he's played a few gigs with BB King.
He resigned his job as a gallery director here, not sure if he's moving now.
