Personally I'd recore with a Redback core.
You then know the quality of the radiator, and even though it's a bit heavier, it should last a very long time.
I'm unconvinced of the long term life of the aluminium Tdi rads as they generally come from the far east.
Good glass impregnated nylon is very, very good, but QA from CHina can be so hit and miss.
Having said that I used a Chinese heater core (aluminium core, plastic tanks)

My preferred mechanic told me a year or so back that the UK sourced aluminium radiators he had fitted to his and a customer's 110s didn't last as long as the OEM radiators, they cracked because they were too stiff.
But that's just hearsay :)

Talking to the radiator guy when I got mine cleaned, he mentioned that any stray electrical current could chew up an Aluminium radiator very quickly. Defenders aren't known for having the worlds best earthing and connections.

We've destroyed two aluminium core Patrol radiators now in the last ten years from stray current, and as Martyn said the Deefer isn't as 'stable' on the electrical front as the Japanese.

Can we even get a new OE one anymore ?
The importers and wholesalers only seem to stock aftermarket that come from China, Eastern Europe or Turkey ?
That's why I suggested an Aussie core in genuine tanks.

Have a look at the street rod catalogue of Speedway Motors. They have a range of well priced aluminium radiators and mounting brackets

Who even made the original? Can't seem to find any brand marking on mine at all...

I have no idea and I shouldn't assume it was made in the UK either.
Marston used to be a huge UK radiator manufacturer, but don't know if they still make car type ones ?
IIRC the radiator hoses have been coming from The Czech Republic for many years now and are bloody good, but I've always held the Czechs in high regard for engineering/making things.

$700(Darwin)AUD for a new core for my radiator. 60mm thick vs 50mm standard. Bypass tube blocked off, and 4 core instead of 3 core.
Alot of money, but alot of assurance and INsurnace for when towing across the Barkly, or up the cape.
Cheers, Adam

I run an allisport wider[full front intercooler 300tdi] radiator, that cost approx $600 delivered at the start of last year. The copper ones for sale on ebay australia i have found to be absolute ****-with in 4 months pin holing appearing in the core, mates did the same, radiator repair mob claimed they were made in turkey from very poor/low grade copper, bearmach replacement from MRauto was good[no problems] but was replaced with the larger allisport product.

Also have a look at Performance Auto Parts and Racing Parts for Domestic Import and Tuner Cars (http://www.skspeed.com) under "cooling". They also have a wide range of well priced radiators.
