I had an over heating problem early this year, suspected leaking hose(s). all hoses have been changed system flushed, water pump appears to be ok, fan operation tested ok, what happens now is once the engine is at operating temp and is under load..ie turbo is working, the system appears to over pressurise and blows(regurgatates) coolant back out through the tank.
1. is the turbo water cooled?
...if so could the pressurisation occur from a hole in a water jacket ?
...or where else could it occur?
2. is there any way the problem could be at the intercooler?

the radiator is almost brand new so is not the problem.....
no water in oil, exhaust gas analysis is good...

any help much appreciated, Dennis

fyi....2000 td5, auto, 240000km.

Head gasket would be my first guess......

yes, I think I've come to that conclusion....but theres no indicators, which is frustrating.

Overheating, blowing water out of tank......couple of pointers;)

If the break is between cylinder and water, you won't necessarily get water and oil mixing.....much better than if you were!

.....not that a head gasket is better by any means:(

I hope someone has a much easier and cheaper thought though......but you've replaced all the usual suspects, hoses, radiator etc.....mmmm

Just a thought, did you replace the pressure cap on the coolant pressure tank, Mine was relieving at a lower pressure because of its age, after replacement, all good. [ both TD5 & V8 pressure caps relieve at 20 psi ] Bob

Thermostat replaced? Heater core flushed separately?
