Quite frankly I was shocked at how widespread the problem is.

The theft of Landies over in the UK is alarming.
You only have to read any of the UK Landy sites/mags to realise how bad the problem is.

Thankfully its not as big a problem here.

A car was stolen in Perth last night and the idiot that stole it was killed when he crashed the vehicle into a tree. I feel zero compassion towards the lowlife that stole the car but have a great deal of compassion for the person who now has a wrecked car. This may seem harsh but I'm sure I'm not alone in this sentiment.

They break them up, then sell onto online auction sites.

We receive these parts not knowing if their hot and with very little attached to show that the seller is legitimate.

Whilst evilbay tries to prevent scams, I wonder if they can generate some mechanism to stop these thief's from profiteering.

Defender door & bonnet theft is rife in UK so much that a popular mod is to bash ball bearings into the allen heads so as not to be able to undo the bolts.

A good Samaritan had his car stolen after coming to the aid of injured motorists involved in a three-car smash in the Shropshire countryside. The thief, who was driving a stolen Land Rover Defender involved in the accident, jumped into
the silver coloured Ford Mondeo, owned by the man who had stopped to help injured people in the accident, and made his quick escape.
