I have a waeco cf50 with what I think is a busted thermistor and they look like a serious pain to replace but I found this on Waeco issue (http://forum.ih8mud.com/camping-outdoor-gear/620498-waeco-issue.html).

About part way down the page a bloke has relocated it to the inside of the fridge. What I would like to know is how will this effect the fridge performance?

Waeco have a very delicate temperature board on them which blow easy with any spark on the line.
When this happens generally the fridge goes on full freezer mode.
Changing the parts are not good and expensive.
The best solution is replace the control system by using a manual knob like in the old Waeco or Eavakool units.
The box is drilled ( very careful to not damage the coil behind the wall) and the tip of the sensor is fixed against the wall.
It worked very well for 5 years 24/7 in my old CF50.

Cheers

I have been thinking along those lines. As a last resort

Well I fixed it. Pulled it own to find it had a thermistor replaced once all ready and the wire was still there for he old one tested it with the meter and it was in range for the ambient temp so I plugged it in and away it went I'm at a loss as to why it was replaced but any how I'm happy it was an easy fix I got the fridge free it was dumped on the side of the road.
