L322 stereo issue

So today when I started my car, most of the speakers stopped working. The only speakers currently working are the bottom front (door) speakers. No subby, no front mid, front high, or rear anything. I've faded front to rear and makes no difference.

I've pulled the plugs from the amp and everything looks OK. When I was testing today, I got a bit of crackle out of the subby for a few seconds, but now I don't get a thing.

Is it time for a new amp? If so, where am I likely to get one without being gouged?

It could be the amp, but could be the head unit itself. Unfortunately I'm not sure how the amp is connected, but is there a way of plugging in an alternate source at the amp to see if you get anything out of it?

Have you cleaned and WD40'd all contacts etc ? because of their location moisture can be a problem also.

I know this might sound stupid, BUT pull the fuse and replace it !!! for some unknown reason some in the UK have found that this works also. :blink:

If you just have the standard stereo system, that amp was I believe in 2000+ P38's. If you know someone with a P38 try that; if not it may pay to check around the wreckers and try one.

Well, I don't know... Started the car up yesterday evening and was surprised to hear the glorious sound, to my ears at least, of Weezer blaring out of all speakers!
I had WD'd the connectors earlier in the day - maybe I hadn't waited long enough for it to do the trick?
Pretty happy to say the least, but I think I've trashed the Sat Nav by disconnecting the battery too quickly :-( Something I learnt afterwards.
Tunes are more important than directions anyway :-)

You should be able to re-boot the Nav system by dis-connecting the battery for at least 25 mins . Just follow this manual on dis-connecting and re-connecting, and hopefully all will be well.

I had a very similar problem, a very loud high pitched whirring noise from the speakers intermittently, and then no sound at all. It turned out to be the amp in the rear left compartment. Apparently they have condensation/or sunroof water droppin on the vertical plug and then it corrodes on the inside.

BMW and Land Rover wanted ~$1000 to 1200 for a new amp, found a BMW 3 series amp in the same specs for $50 at a Melbourne wrecker.
