hello Together,

Just returned from Monkey Gum FT in the wet and it was quite a nice challenge for a newbie like me.

However I noticed a knock (nothing to bad but still noticeable) if I go over obstacles or a speed bump in the front or driving over corrugation.

Could this be the bushes and steering arms?

Just wondering how to diagnose and what it would cost to fix?

Thanks a lot

Steve

If it sounds metal on metal Steve and generally just a single thunk at a time then I'd start by looking at the anti roll bushes.

Yes that pretty much what it sounds like, is that something I have to attend ASAP?

Ball joints or Hydra bushes or any bush on the lower control arm for that matter.

Thanks a lot guys do I also need to replace the control arms? How long can I drive without replacing them?

My front end knocking was front control arm bushes. metal on metal is not a long term joy giver. Not urgent but not something to neglect I thought.

How long to wait to fix them depends on how much you respect your tyres, because the wheel alignment will be out with the bushes gone.

It would probably be easier to order the complete lower control arm assembly. (With ball joint, Hydra bush & bush)

In the long run labour time will be a lot quicker & it is a right real pain in the proverbial cutting out the hydra bush from the control arm!!!!!

Just a thought :-)
