After replacing a faulty MAF sensor, thanks again everyone, i decided to get a nanocom to see if i could diagnose any other issues.
I can see in the attached spreadsheet that the EGR inlet opens up on occasion but the modulator itself remains at 0%.
I'm a bit confused as from what i have read the modulator controls the EGR valve? I'm probably wrong and it would be great if someone could steer me in the right direction.
Thank you
James

you previous owner or mechanic has probably disabled the egr modulator,
which is the right thing to do.
The EGR is a valve thing, looks a bit like a throttle body, sits on front of your inlet manifold. If your inlet manifold just goes direct to your intercooler you dont have a EGR , which is good.
if you still have an EGR I suggest that you put an EGR blanking kit on your shopping list,
the fact that the EGR shows any activity on your spreadsheet is just a random glitch, you will notice the wastegate modulator is has similar events, There is actually NO wastegate modulator on a Defender.

Thank for the info GoingBush,
Looks like the EGR is still there the hose from the inter cooler still going into the EGR valve. I'll have a search around the site for blocking kits.
Thanks again,
James

Hi James
That log looks fairly similar to what I am logging wrt to the egr feeds. In my case I have the later EU3 engine in a D2a and the egr is still attached. I'm not sure what normal behaviour is but in my case the car is running very nicely.
It would be interesting to see a log of an erg setup that is working as per specs if what we are logging is not standard.
Cheers
Steve.
