Hi folks - its a MY13 SE SDV6 - with no options. Just got a couple of questions if anyone can help..

I have got bluetooth working with my iphone - except for voice dialling. I do have a voice button on the steering wheel but it does nothing. Should I have voice dialling on my model/fitout? I get other stuff like my contacts on the dash etc and can dial that way. Also bluetooth music works ok. Just wondering if the button should be working or whether my base fitout doesn't have that feature - the manual isnt clear on what model gets what.
Reverse sensor - my D3 had a button to turn it off on the dash.. but I can't see any such thing on the D4. Painful when backing up in grass etc. Is there a button to temporarily shut it up somewhere like on the D3?
Would like to go GOE 18" rims - is there a market for factory rims and what are they worth if so? Went to the for sale section here but the template insisted on a price - but I dont know what they're worth. Selling them is necessary for me to afford the GOE ones :)

I have any My12 SE SDV6

My voice button....it just mutes sound on the stereo.

Reverse sensor button.....did not have a button to turn it off. Volume on stereo will turn sound down/off.

GOE rims only option...they look s**t hot and turn the best 4x4xfar into an even better machine.

I drive on factory tyres and rims, and swap over when I head bush. Don't think there is a market for the factory rims....not D4 drivers anyway.

1. Voice dialling does not use the phones contacts. you have to add numbers to the the cars contacts and then record their name against it. once you have done this you will be able to use voice dialling for any number you have added. Press the voice command button, wait for the beep, say " Phone dial name", car will respond "Phone dial name. Name please", say the name then confirm and away you go. Make sure you do the voice training so the car learns your accent. Chech the 'Voice Control' section:
TOPIx - LRL 10 02 59 131 - OWNER'S HANDBOOK 2013 (Issue 1) (http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/service/document/221157#)
PS not sure of differences between MY10 and 13

2. You only get the button to disable sensors if you have front sensors also.

3. Brett covered that:D

Don't you have to have the "say what you see" voice command for that to work? It comes with the HiIce and Nav. The SE in question has "no options".

Don't work on my MY12 SE. Followed topix as per your link (thanks) but no go on my SE. Must have been an optional extra.

Just mutes the sound.

My last D4 (2010) did not have the nav and the voice button also didn't work, I tried all manner of enablements using my faultmate but it never did work. My 2011 DOES have nav, (all be it not so user friendly) and the voice button does work, but frankly your not missing out on much, I rarely use it and then it is to record a note or to find a petrol station in an unknown area. Most of the commands are to do with the sat nav, I think you can dictate a number to dial and vaguely remember reading about recording names for voice dialing, but all those get lost when altering your CCF using a faultmate so I just don't bother with it.

I haven't heard of the " say what you see" option, but I think LR are slooowly trying to catch up with the Koreans as far as ICE is concerned.

PS Love the car:D:D

...and you are right, they are slowly catching up but streets ahead of 2010. The interface is much nicer.

Thanks for all the info guys - hey also is there an option to fold the mirrors back whilst driving along? Like if on a narrow track or parking beside a wall like I do?

They do fold when I lock the car.

If you press the two mirror selection buttons simultaneously they fold in and again to fold out.

No voice control for my 12SE. It has HiLine audio but not the nav.

Must look into seeing if creating contacts on the car is possible to get some regular numbers stored in there as searching the phone contacts can be a little distracting. Using Last 10 helps but is not ideal.

I have a MY12 D4 SE with Nav and HiIce.

My steering wheel voice button works for "Say what you see". I'm not in the car now to double check but I can dial contacts based on name IIRC. Certainly I can give it commands via voice.

Interesting. It looks like Nav and HiIce/Line is the combo that gives you voice command. If you just get the upgraded audio you miss out.

If you don't have nav then you don't have it.

Yes, the voice command will recognise what you say. So if you say "phone contact" and then after the beep the name, it will populate the screen with the name (and anything else close). Then chose the correct contact by saying the line number, and then if that contact has more than one number (home, office, mobile) it will populate those and you again choose the line number. It is pretty good.

The best part about "say what you see" is switching between CD, USB, Radio, etc. If you want to switch from CD to USB you have to press a few buttons to get to the screen to select it. With "say what you see" it is simply say "USB play" and away it goes. One step, one command, and you don't need to take your eyes off the road.

Cheers

Hi All,

I've heard numerous mentions of a D4 being able to play music via blue tooth. Myself and others have asked how you achieve that but I've never seen an answer beyond make the selection.....

Phone works fine as a BT phone but I haven't been able to get music working.

I guess first port of call...I have a MY10 SE but it does have Sat Nav and a Logic 7 H&K Sound System....so will it work?

If so, how so.....PLEASE...HELP, Anybody???? :)

Cheers,

Kev.

Oh BTW iPhone 4.

I have a 12SE HiLine sound but here is how it works for my system. (I too have an iPhone 4)

You can bluetooth to the music on your phone but not while another music device is plugged into one of the usb slots. So, with no ipod hardwired into the sound system get in the car with your phone. It will pair the phone normally. Then go to My Music and you will see the menu of sources. Choose bluetooth and it will eventually locate the music on your phone and you are away. (There is some loss of music search functionality)

So it's a feature but to me not a very useful one. Even if I don't have my iPod and was going to use my phone's music library, I would plug the phone into the usb, get full iPod music functionality and charge up the phone at the same time. When I do the phone works fine via bluetooth while the phone's music goes down the wire so to speak.

Does the MY10 system have this feature? I don't know but don't fret it if it doesn't. In my normal use of the car sound system, it's not a feature I'd miss. It would be useful if I not only forgot my ipod but forgot the connection wire as well but I keep a wire in the car permanently. The thing for me is that if you're gonna have portable music you may as well carry your entire music collection, which for me is bigger than the phone's storage capacity, hence the hardwired iPod for music and leave the phones as phone.

Hope this is of some use.

Not applicable to the 10MY, that's why you have a lead.

Then again...its lead actually charges too....who'd a thunk it?! :wasntme:

Thanks guys.

That's the great thing about LR's. No two are the same.....just like people.
