Still the original motor hasn't had the head off, just shows what regular servicing will do for you as for the D4 i am loving it such a pleasure to drive.

Nothing really ... well he did replace the body (twice) and the engine three times ... but it's still done a million Kms - heh heh it's a bit like my granddad's axe ... five new handles and five new blades but it's still his axe :D

Seriously though - it's great to see the D1 still "motoring on" - that's one in the eye for all those Landrover knockers out there.....
cheers

Perhaps a combination of regular servicing and the type of driving ie no short stop/start runs which is what most cars do hence they'll never see any where near this sort of long life without repairs of some sort.

I have a pre-ABS d1 - 95 model. They really are a long term vehicle. The are the last of the LR's that could give very high k's for very little maintenance outlay. Even the D2 is more complicated by comparrison with ABS, several computers and a host of sensors, RR front end - gone are the swivel bearings Its an era that is over but its good that LR lovers are keeping them and not dumping them just because they are old and creak a little:D

Nice D4 BTW.

Can’t fault it in any way other than just wanting to keep driving it.Off to Melrose on the weekend for Easter.Might see some of you there.

Lucky sod - nice new Disco ! I'd have gotten a white one but otherwise would LOVE that car.

Me too and I purposefully bought a non-ABS (1995) model for that reason.
