200tdi gas conversion

G'day all just got a query about putting '93 200tdi discovery on gas. I've got a '98 300tdi with a dgas fumigation system on it and I was just wondering if I could install it on the 200tdi and still be compliant? Im a mechanic and we do conversions at work but not diesel conversions so I don't have any literature as to the certifications of the diesel systems and any emission issues etc. Im in victoria by the way. Any help would be great thanks.

All the requirements for diesel emissions testing are in the most recent copy of AS1425 which you should have at your work. However I haven't heard of anyone emissions testing diesel vehicles built before 2002 so I doubt if you'd have a problem, so long as you set it for no visible black smoke under full load.

If you have doubts check with the supplier of the system your 300tdi is using. In any case I believe 200tdi's are before any of the current diesel emissions standards came out.

Thanks for the reply beeutey will dig up the paperwork for them today I wasnt sure itd all be on the same lot. Have you had much experience with gas on a 200? I have been looking around and have found nothing on the topic. Thanks again.

I did a 200tdi deefer last year, no probs, but I use my own system that is not emission certified so I only fit it to pre-2002 vehicles.
